Crises Management

Phases of a crisis

A crisis can be divided in different phases. The following presents the phases:

  • Phase 1: Development of a crisis
  • Phase 2: Detection of a crisis – early detection, early warning and early clarification/information
  • Phase 3: Processing of the crisis – containment of the crisis and limitation of damage
  • Phase 4: Solving the crisis – possibly by recovery (restart of a technical system)
  • Phase 5: Crisis review – learning from the crisis
  • Phase 0: prevention of a crisis – this is of fundamental importance for the reduction of crises or for preventing the outbreak of a weakened crisis. Anyhow, the prevention is not part of the crisis.
